Moose

My childhood toy was a moose, it was foreshadowing of my now passion about wildlife, especially moose.

 

I live in New Zealand, our only native land animals are birds and a bat. Years ago, moose were introduced to the South Island of New Zealand as game to hunt so they did not last long. This mortifies me as they are such beautiful creatures and play a crucial part in their ecosystem.

 

The only thing on my bucket list is to see a moose in the wild, everybody knows that if I make it to my deathbed and I haven't seen a moose yet then it's not my time to go. The combination of habitat destruction and climate change is leading moose to extinction. They are far too important to this earth to be driven out of it.

 

It's so moving to read all of these stories of people who care as much as I do about our planet and all the inhabitants, big and small.
